2024 Veterans Cost of Living Adjustment details

Recently, officials from the Seniors Citizen League announced that they anticipate a less than 2.6% projected increase for social security cost of living rates. This is significant to Veterans because Congress ties the increase in veterans payouts to the Social Security Administration’s calculations.
The projected increase represents a drop from the 3.4% awarded at the start of 2024, and is a steep decline from the 8.7% adjustment that was applied for 2023. The annual adjustment is based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and clerical workers. If their pay stays flat, then federal planners may assess that no ajdusmtent is necessary.

6 Ways You Can Increase Your VA Disability Payment
Any increase that helps improve the quality of life of the veterans who honorably served our great country is good news in our book. At the Rep for Vets we ensure that veterans are being fairly and accurately compensated by the VA for their disabling conditions.
Is your veterans disability compensation payment too small? Were you denied benefits that you deserve? Many veterans don’t realize that they can appeal decisions for higher ratings. When they are awarded low service-connected rating percentages, they just accept them. But you don’t have to.
With the potential for the cost of living adjustment to shrink compared to prior years, it’s more important than ever to make sure you are receiving the benefits you’re entitled to.
Appealing a claim can help you change several different kinds of unsatisfactory VA decisions:
- Appeal a denied claim for service connection disabilities
- Appeal for a higher disability rating based on changes in your situation
- Appeal for an earlier effective date (more backpay)
- Claims for clear and unmistakable error
- Claims for individual unemployability if your service-connected disability prevents you from working altogether
- Section 1151 claims for vets who have suffered additional disability because of VA hospital error
